Marina Diamandis (pronounced dee-a-man-dee) born 10 October 1985, better known by her stage name Marina and the Diamonds, is a Welsh singer-songwriter of Greek descent. She rose to fame after reaching number two on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll list. After releasing one private extended play (Mermaid Vs Sailor), she released her second extended play, The Crown Jewels EP, with help from Neon Gold Records in 2009. Now signed to 679 Recordings, she released her debut full-length studio album debuting at 5 in the official UK charts, The Family Jewels, followed by her third extended play, The American Jewels EP, in 2010.

    28 Images have been added to the gallery from the NME Awards which took place tonight. Marina looked gorgeous at the prestigious award show where she showed off her grey tresses whilst dressing in calm pastel colours. The 2011 BT Digital Music Awards aired on ITV 1 this Monday and Marina performed her single Radioactive. Check out the performance above and don’t forget to download the song on iTunes here. There are also remixes available to purchase, including the likes of Tom Staar and Captain Cuts.

 Last night Marina was in the Radio 1 studios with Nahil for the Review Show. Other guests were Starboy Nathan & Edward Adoo and their purpose of the show is to rate and review a selection of songs. Marina also talks about Radioactive, her album & other female artists out right now. It’s only available for 1 week (until the 27th of September) so make sure to listen to it while you can.
